Professional profile

Being a registered Member of BACP and I adhere to their Code of Ethics. I am also committed to, ongoing personal and professional development through regular supervision, additional training. My Psychotherapy and Counselling training involved 8 years of academic and my own personal therapy. My education is recognised by WPF, CPCAB and BACP. I have worked as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist over years. I have been seeing adult individuals from different ethnic backgrounds and varied presentations. I also see couples.

In my work I help people improve their emotional wellbeing using a range of therapeutic approaches, widely used in the private and public sectors, which include Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Person Centred Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I combine aspects from each to provide supportive, collaborative, client-centred therapy. This means I work alongside clients using the type of therapy that best suits to an individual taking into account personal needs and circumstances.

I believe that at different stages in life we can benefit from clarifying our priorities and reviewing the direction our lives might be taking. I offer the opportunity to talk through the things that are causing pain or difficulty, looking at ways to understand client’s experiences and help client move forward. I think it is important to be mindful of the wholeness of the psyche and soma.

A typical counselling/ psychotherapy session is for 50 minutes every week however some clients might be helped by twice a week sessions. Clients could be seen on either long term or short term as per the individual requirements. Short or brief therapy could focus on an important issue and if client wishes could get on the long term work to explore more. The first session is an assessment to view the suitability of the client for the therapy as well as for client to find out if he/ she would like to work with me.
