Spire Cheshire Hospital Leads The North of England With Successfully Undertaking Its First ROSA Partial Knee Replacement
26 November 2025
Spire Cheshire Hospital is the first hospital within Spire Healthcare and in the North of England to achieve a major milestone in orthopaedic surgery - successfully performing its first ROSA Partial Knee Replacement. This also positions the hospital as a regional and national leader, now ranked 2nd in the UK and 4th in Europe to carry out this pioneering procedure.
As patients increasingly seek the benefits of robotic-assisted surgery, ROSA helps meet this demand by enhancing care quality, optimising implant positioning, and supporting faster recovery.
Gurjeet Sidhu, Zimmer Biomet’s Senior Sales Representative for Spire Cheshire Hospital said, “the ROSA Robotic Knee Replacement system represents the latest advancement in knee arthroplasty, supporting surgeons in delivering highly accurate, personalised and efficient knee replacements — both total and partial.” Designed by surgeons for surgeons, the ROSA system enhances surgical precision through real-time data, soft-tissue assessment, and improved alignment techniques.

The ROSA system allows for an exceptionally accurate and personalised approach to knee surgery, particularly in partial knee replacements where precision is vital. By integrating real-time data and advanced planning software, we can tailor the procedure to each patient’s unique anatomy, with the aim to improve comfort, recovery and long-term outcomes.”
Ben White Hospital Director at Spire Cheshire Hospital, added “we are incredibly proud to be leading the way in robotic-assisted surgery. Becoming the first hospital in the Northwest and the very first hospital within Spire Healthcare to offer ROSA partial knee replacement, reflects our commitment to innovation, excellence, and outstanding patient care. This milestone highlights the expertise of our clinical teams and our continuous investment in state-of-the-art technology for the benefit of our community.”
ROSA’s surgeon-centred, data-driven design enhances accuracy, supports personalised alignment philosophies, and integrates smoothly into established surgical workflows. For patients, this means:
- Greater precision in implant positioning
- Potentially reduced pain post-operatively
- Faster recovery and return to mobility
- A more tailored and predictable surgical experience
