Specialises in
Virtual consultations:
I specialise in diseases of the gallbladder and liver. As a member of the Liverpool Hepatobiliary Unit, I perform over 50 major open and laparoscopic (keyhole) liver resections a year as well as over 100 laparoscopic gallbladder operations (cholecystectomy).
I also have extensive experience in the investigation and management of hernias, including groin, incisional and abdominal wall hernias. I perform open and laparoscopic repairs as part of my practice.
I deal with a wide spectrum of benign and malignant liver and gallbladder conditions, both as direct referrals from patients (without the need to see a GP first), referrals from GPs and specialist referrals from other surgeons across the region.
I hold a prestigious NIHR Research Scholar fellowship, a national award to fund my research activities. I am also the UK's first Surgical Specialty Lead for advanced colorectal cancer, funded by the Royal College of Surgeons and Bowel Cancer UK.
I am a member of the NCRI Upper GI and Advanced Colorectal Cancer clinical studies group. I am also an executive member of the North West Surgical Trials Unit.
