Professional profile

I have been a consultant trauma and upper limb surgeon at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since February 2016. I completed my higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedics in the North West and Mersey regions. I completed my upper limb fellowship at Wrightington Hospital, which is known worldwide as a centre of excellence. This fellowship offered me broad experience in a variety of complex upper limb pathologies. I also had the opportunity to complete the trauma fellowship at the Royal Preston Hospital, which is one of the busiest major trauma centres in the North West region. The hands on experience gained from this fellowship has allowed me to deal competently with complex trauma cases. Prior to my training in the UK, I gained extensive trauma experience from one of the busiest hospitals in Mumbai, India.

I specialise in various aspects of upper limb surgeries including hand, wrist and shoulder arthroscopic procedures (key hole procedures). The majority of my clinical work involves management of upper limb trauma and treating conditions like wrist and hand joint arthritis, trigger finger, carpal tunnel syndrome and Dupuytrens contracture, De Quervain disease, tennis elbow and cubital tunnel syndrome. I have also been trained to use collagenase injections for Dupuytrens disease and platelet rich plasma for various conditions. Being a sportsman myself, I have a special interest in the management of sports related upper limb injuries.

I won Hospital Doctor of the Year at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust in 2011. I also won the Best Poster Prize at the Indian Orthopaedic Society Meeting, Liverpool in June 2008. In 2004, I was awarded the Quality Champion Bronze Award at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.
