Mr Edwin Frances Nigel Holland
MD, FRCOG, Dip Ven
I was a consultant gynaecologist and obstetrician at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust from 1995 to 2020. I was also Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Liverpool. I have run a successful private practice in gynaecology in Cheshire since 1995.
I qualified in medicine at Liverpool University. I worked in the Mersey Region where I became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1989. I then moved to London and worked at Kings College and Dulwich Hospitals where I completed my Doctorate Thesis in HRT and osteoporosis. Thereafter I did my Senior Registrar posts in Yorkshire before being appointed as a consultant in Warrington.
During my time in the NHS I had been Unit Lead for Colposcopy (abnormal cervical smears) and gynae-oncology (cancer) services. I ran a menopause clinic to manage patients with problems taking hormone replacement therapy. I had a particular interest in service development and was directly involved in establishing hysteroscopy services for the management of heavy and abnormal menstrual bleeding problems in the outpatient (ambulatory) setting, which extended to treatment with the mirena coil, endometrial ablation (Novasure) and removal of polyps and fibroids (Myosure).
I have a wide experience in general gynaecology with over 35 years experience in the specialty.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Edwin Frances Nigel Holland at Spire include:
