Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Douglas McGeorge at Spire include:
I specialise in aesthetic surgery of the breast and facial rejuvenation. In the private sector, whilst offering a full range of aesthetic procedures, I continue to develop my personal interest in all aspects of breast surgery and combine this with a large practice in facial rejuvenation surgery. I have a huge amount of experience, not only in performing plastic surgical procedures, but also in teaching them. I teach aesthetic surgery to senior trainees in the Manchester and Merseyside regions.
Having graduated from the University of Manchester, I underwent extensive training, firstly in general surgery and then in plastic surgery units around the country and abroad. I have experience of working in South Africa, the United States, Slovenia, Switzerland and Belgium, as well as the UK. I completed my plastic surgery training in London, then moved and started a new cosmetic surgery unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital in 1993. I ran the unit for ten years before leaving to continue my practice in the private sector. In Chester I developed the breast reconstruction service, introducing immediate breast reconstruction to the region. I now continue as an honorary consultant at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
I have also been a contributor to medical literature and an invited speaker at national and international meetings. I am closely involved in the training standards of cosmetic and plastic surgery as a council member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons for over 15 years. I was president of the association between 2006 – 2008. I am a trustee of the charity, The Scar Free Foundation, aimed at trying to achieve scar-less healing within a generation.
I am a founder of Science of Skin, a company dedicated to bringing scientific solutions to skin care, with scientific and clinical proven treatments to improve scarring.
