As part of our longstanding relationship, we are proud to be dedicating our resources to the NHS at this important time. As a result many of our treatments are currently suspended and we are reviewing all planned procedures and consultations. We are making every effort to talk to impacted patients and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Periyathambi Jambulingam at Spire include:
I perform laparoscopic inguinal hernia repairs extraperitoneally (TEPP) which facilitates treatment of all groin hernias and incisional hernias. I perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy including dilatations and insertion of stents, as well as colonoscopy.
I completed my higher surgical training in the West Midlands, at University Hospitals in North Staffordshire, Coventry and Birmingham. I spent a year in the Liver Transplantation Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, where I passed the intercollegiate specialty examination in 2004 and obtained the CCST. I completed a year’s Post CCST fellowship in Oesophago-gastric and advanced laparoscopic surgery at UHB. I am trained in laparoscopic anti-reflux surgery, diaphragmatic hernia, inguinal and incisional hernia repair.
I have been working as a Consultant General Surgeon with a special interest in Upper GI/laparoscopic surgery at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital NHS Trust since July 2007. My NHS practice reflects my subspecialty training in minimally invasive surgery. My practice includes general surgery, benign and malignant GI surgery, advanced laparoscopic surgery and hepatobiliary surgery.
I deliver bariatric surgical services at the Obesity Centre for research at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital and enter my data on the NBSR. I attended bariatric training courses in Hull, Taunton, Bruges in Belgium, UPMC, Pittsburgh and Rotterdam. I am an experienced bariatric surgeon and perform insertion of intragastric balloons, Obalon, laparoscopic gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass and revisional bariatric surgery.
My special interest is oesophago-gastric surgery which includes the management of acid reflux disease in the form of laparoscopic hiatus hernia repair, fundoplication, giant hiatus hernia repair and achalasia cardia. I have visited the Cancer Institute Hospital and the National Cancer centre in Tokyo. I perform minimally invasive oesophagectomies (MIO) and gastrectomies for cancers and GIST tumors.
