Mr Ali Fakher Akhri Alhamdani

I am a Consultant General Surgeon working at the Whittington NHS Trust and privately at Spire Bushey Hospital. I have had extensive training in laparoscopic
(keyhole) surgical techniques in the UK, Europe and America and have performed over 2,500 procedures to date.

I currently carry out approximately 100 laparoscopic gallbladder procedures per year. I am one of the pioneers in utilising
the new technique STRETTA, minimally invasive endoscopic procedure for the treatment of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD).

I provide the full range of obesity surgery procedures, including gastric bypass, gastric band, sleeve gastrectomy and revisional bariatric surgery. I also performed the new technique of gastric bypass which is the mini gastric bypass with its advantages of less post-operative problems and excellent weight loss results. I perform approximately 100 weight loss procedures per year and have a reputation for performing safe surgery with a very low complication rate and a zero mortality rate.

I was awarded my medical degree at the University of Baghdad 1996. My training in bariatric, or obesity, surgery conforms with the criteria required by The British Obesity and Metabolic
Surgery Society (BOMSS) demonstrated by my fellowship in obesity surgery in Sunderland, UK.

My priority is the care of my patients. During consultation, I consider each of my patients to be central to the decision making process for the treatments suggested. The treatment I suggest depends on the patient’s lifestyle, medical history, preferences
and medical needs. All of these are taken into consideration before I recommend the available options and the final choice will rest with the patient.
