Mr Grobbelaar has been a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at the Mount Vernon Hospital Reconstructive, Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit from 1996 until October 2006 when the Mount Vernon Unit moved to its new home at the Royal Free Hospital Hampstead NHS Trust where he is now based as Programme Director and Clinical Lead. Facial re-animation surgery as well as breast reconstruction constitutes his special interests in his NHS practice whilst in private practice he undertakes all aspects of cosmetic surgery in addition to reconstructive and microsurgery. He has published more than 60 papers in the medical literature and has written several chapters in textbooks on plastic surgery as well as the cosmetic surgery section in the Microsoft Encarta encyclopaedia.
Mr Grobbelaar currently serves as the UK representative on the Council of EURAPS and has been awarded a Hunterian Professorship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS(Eng)) for his research entitled 'A new surgical solution in surgical treatment of facial paralysis.'
