I am a Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in paediatric ophthalmology, strabismus (squint) in children and adults, and adult cataract surgery. I hold an NHS Consultant post at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and bring over 18 years of experience in ophthalmology.
My specialist training spans India and the UK. Following my medical degree and postgraduate ophthalmology training in India, I completed a fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, a renowned tertiary eye care centre. After moving to the UK, I undertook further specialist fellowship training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, where I gained extensive experience in the assessment and management of complex eye conditions in children, as well as strabismus in both children and adults.
With extensive clinical and surgical experience in India and the UK, I specialise in childhood eye conditions and strabismus (squint) in both children and adults.
I also specialise in adult cataract surgery with expertise in routine and complex cataract surgery.
I perform squint surgery across all age groups, with particular attention to patient comfort and recovery. Where appropriate, I use a fornix-based incision technique, which can be especially beneficial for young children. I have extensive experience in complex adult squint surgery, including cases involving previous squint operations. I also offer adjustable suture surgery where clinically indicated to help achieve the best possible alignment. My paediatric surgical practice includes eyelid lesion and chalazion excision, as well as procedures to treat watery eyes.
I also have extensive experience in adult cataract surgery, including routine and complex cases. My surgical techniques include phacoemulsification and manual small-incision cataract surgery, allowing me to tailor the approach to the individual patient and the nature of the cataract.
I am committed to providing evidence-based, compassionate and personalised care, with a calm, reassuring and family-centred approach, particularly when caring for children and supporting their families.
I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and am actively involved in postgraduate medical education and surgical training. As a named Educational Supervisor, an Examiner for the FRCOphth examinations and an assessor for CESR/Portfolio Pathway applications, I contribute to the training and professional development of future consultant ophthalmologists. These roles reflect my commitment to maintaining high professional standards and supporting excellence in ophthalmic care.
