Specialises in
I am a consultant in pain medicine and anaesthesia at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, one of London’s leading hospitals in the management of musculoskeletal disorders. I specialise in interventional chronic pain management, balancing it with a multidimensional model including cognitive, behavioural, pharmacological, interventional and rehabilitative strategies.
My interests in interventional pain management include a wide range of interventional therapies including, but not limited to, facet joint injections/epidurals in the cervical, lumbar and thoracic areas, rhizolysis/radiofrequency denervation, pulsed radiofrequency procedures, dorsal root ganglion blocks, selective nerve blockade, peripheral electrical stimulation strategies, spinal cord stimulators, peripheral nerve stimulators, sympathetic plexus blocks, stellate ganglion blocks and a range of peripheral nerve block techniques to help manage pain.
I have a range of pharmacological management options for nociceptive, neuropathic and mixed nociceptive-neuropathic pain states including opioid management strategies. I have been an invited speaker on cognitive approaches in pain management both nationally and internationally, and believe in active application of these techniques in my daily practice. I have also authored the chapter on post-operative pain management in Essentials of Neurosurgical Anesthesia and Critical Care (Springer, USA, 2012).
