Dr O'Leary is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Critical Care at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and was appointed Head of Critical Care in 2014, with responsibility for the development and on-going management of the service.
He read Biochemistry and Medicine at Dundee, Scotland. He initially trained in General Medicine and Gastroenterology, before then specialising in Anaesthetics and Critical Care.
His main areas of interest are thoracic, orthopaedic and upper GI anaesthesia. He also has an interest in medical education, having taught both in the UK and Canada, and has presented at a number of international speciality meetings.
In his spare time, Tony is currently undertaking an MSc in Healthcare Leadership at the University of Birmingham and also enjoys skydiving and skiing.
On his appointment, Dr O'Leary comments, “It's a fantastic opportunity to be involved in the wider healthcare landscape of Nottinghamshire especially in a role that contributes so centrally to the provision of high quality patient care. The new purpose built hospital will further enhance the patient and staff experience”
