Spire Roding Celebrating the International Nurses Day

12 May 2016

Today, 12th of May is International Nurses Day, here at Spire Roding we’re delighted to have the opportunity to say a very special and ‘Big Thank You’ to all our Nurses and Healthcare Assistants.

We asked Antti Kivimaki, Head of Clinical Services and Maureen McNabb, Theatre Manager at Spire Roding to share their thoughts and feelings on this day. Here is what they told us:

Antti Kivimaki, Head of Clinical Services

On International Nurses Day it is a day when we can celebrate together, all the wonderful work our Nurses and Healthcare Assistants do every day, when they care for our patients and their families.

This is a great opportunity for us to say a big thank you to you all.  You truly ‘Make a Difference’ in every day, when you care for your patients.

Once more, I would like to say a big thanks to all of you for all the hard work, flexibility, commitment and support you have shown within the last year.

I am so proud to work with you all!

Yours sincerely
Antti

Maureen McNabb, Theatre Manager

I’m Maureen McNabb and my current role is Theatre Manager at the Spire Roding Hospital. This includes managing ssd and inpatient admission team.

I first qualified in Psychiatric Nursing in 1979, moving on to do my Registered General Nurse Training, qualifying in 1984. I completed my Theatre Course in 1986 and went on to do a BSc in Health Service Management in 1995.

I have a wide perioperative experience in both the Public and Independent Sectors ranging from open heart, neurosurgery to endoscopy. My Management experience has been gained within the Independent Sector.

I consider myself to be a ‘People Person’ leading by example and able to demonstrate good people skills.

I enjoy working as part of a Team, both in a Clinical and Management setting and particularly enjoy problem solving; whether it be coordinating staffing needs for theatre schedule or helping to plan for a renovation project for the Hospital.

I’m proud of my Team and the high standard of work that we achieve together.

I’m especially pleased that many of the people that I’ve taken on as juniors are now qualified practitioners in their own right…nurses, ODPs and medical students.

I truly believe that everyone can do something, however seemingly small and like to think that I’m an effective role model and Mentor.

When not at work I enjoy spending time with my husband and son, especially eating out and visiting the sights of London. I also love to travel and plan and research holidays for family and friends with meticulous care!
