We welcome your views on our website and invite you to take part in a brief survey when you've finished your visit.
Your response will help us improve the site and the experience we offer to visitors.
Most of the children we see here are referred to us from their GP, but you can also book an outpatient appointment by contacting us directly. Opting for private care does not limit access to NHS care in the future and if you would your child to see a consultant privately, we can help you find the best consultant for your child and answer any questions you might have.
We also have a team of private GPs who see children here for a private GP appointment if you feel you need the time to talk through any general concerns about your child’s health. Our private GPs can refer your child on a to a specialist consultant where it is appropriate.
For self-pay patients, inclusive care packages are available which gives parents peace of mind knowing that their child’s care is paid for before they come into hospital for their procedure.
If you have private medical insurance, simply visit your GP and ask them to refer you to the appropriate consultant who practises at Spire Leicester hospital. Your GP will write a letter of referral and then either you or your GP can contact us to arrange your first appointment. Your insurance company may require your GP to complete some sections of a claim form. Your GP might make a nominal charge for this service.
During an initial consultation with a paediatric specialist here, you and your child will talk through your child’s symptoms with the consultant and any necessary investigations and treatment plans will also be discussed.
Our rooms
Each of the hospital’s private rooms has en-suite facilities and a TV and is specially prepared for a child’s admission to make the room feel as homely as possible. Beds are made up with colourful bedding and quilt covers, and a range of age appropriate toys are made available for children to occupy themselves with whilst in hospital.
Coming into hospital
If your child is coming into Spire Leicester Hospital for surgery, we’ll invite you to bring them for a pre-admission visit. You will meet some of the team who will be looking after your child, and the visit will help them to feel more familiar with the hospital when they return for their actual admission. We are always pleased to arrange for you to stay overnight in your child's room.
On the ward, your child will be cared for by our team of children's nurses. The staff who look after your child in the operating theatre and recovery room have all received additional training in the care of children.
You’ll be able to accompany your child to the operating theatre and stay with them until they are asleep. You will also be able to accompany your child back from the recovery area to the ward.
A children's menu will be available and, if your child wants something that's not on the menu, we’ll try to provide this.
We provide a range of toys, books and videos but it's a good idea for your child to bring one or two of their own favourite toys or comforters.
