I have been Chief and Principal Investigator in a number of key international trials. I received my research doctorate (Doctor of Medicine, MD) from the University of Manchester after an intensive study of kidney cancer chemotherapy resistance mechanisms at the Christie Hospital.
I have served eight years as an associate member of the European Association of Urologists Guidelines Panel for Prostate Cancer. These guidelines are the most sited urology guidance worldwide. I also regularly review articles for BJUI (British Journal of Urology International). I have also contributed to the Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT) urology guidance for Bladder Cancer and Outpatient Transformation.

I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughters. I am a keen amateur footballer and musician. I play violin, piano, drums and guitar regularly in these bands: Clutton sounds (a urology rock band) and Stringbox (a Manchester based folk band). My latest band, currently without a name, is more funk/ soul inspired.
