I have been a Consultant General and Gastro-intestinal Surgeon for 26 years. I specialise in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery and I have extensive experience of laparoscopic (keyhole) techniques.
My special interests include surgery for gallstone disease (cholecystectomy), including surgical treatment of common bile duct stones. I perform diagnostic gastroscopy on a regular basis. I perform surgical treatment (anti-reflux surgery / fundoplication) in appropriate cases. I carry out endoscopic assessment of Barrett's oesophagus. I also carry out investigation and management of swallowing difficulties and surgical treatment of oesophageal motility disorders such as cardial achalasia (Heller's myotomy).
I participate in providing surgical education for surgical trainees and I am an appraiser for surgical colleagues.
