"Spire Cheshire Hospital is superbly organised, allowing me to concentrate on looking after my patients within a supportive environment."
Specialises in
I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Leighton Hospital since 2015, specialising in knee surgery, sports injuries and lower limb joint replacement. After my appointment I have introduced joint preservation surgery to the Trust, undertaking peri-articular osteotomies and combinations.
My practice involves the assessment and management of sports injuries and in particular ligament injuries of the knee and peri-articular fractures. I frequently offer second opinions for patients who have early onset arthritis or mal-alignment and to help patients understand if they may be suitable for joint preservation surgery, unicompartmental (partial) knee replacement or patello-femoral knee replacement.
I have performed over 1,000 joint replacements. Within my NHS practice, I operate on all patients suitable for osteotomy or patello-femoral joint replacement. I'm regularly in contact with colleagues in sports clubs to offer advice and surgery for injuries as required.
I am the trauma lead for orthopaedics at my NHS base hospital.
Since joining the trust in 2015 I have maintained a continuous programme of outcome monitoring for our hip and knee replacement service. This has formed an integral part of our monthly meetings and has helped to drive standards and reduce the incidence of complications during this period.
I'm fortunate to work in a fantastic department, with colleagues who are hugely committed to quality improvement and the training of new surgeons. We have been recognised regionally as the training hospital of the year for the last three years running and I have been short listed individually for the trainer of the year award in two of the last three years. I have also been fortunate to have had the opportunity to train surgeons who have gone on to establish successful practices abroad. My work with trainees injects the joy and challenge into my practice, driving my own standards and promoting reflective, evidence based care.
