Virtual consultations:
I have been a consultant surgeon since 2005 and at the Manchester Royal Infirmary since 2007 where I oversaw a 10-fold increase in the number of OG cancer operations and developed a minimally invasive (keyhole) cancer surgery service and a comprehensive bariatric surgery service.
I am currently a senior OG cancer and bariatric surgeon in Manchester with 15 years’  experience and an expert and experienced lead in cancer, reflux and bariatric surgery including complex revision operations. I provide training, mentorship and support for other surgeons.
I am currently in training to undertake robotic surgery and already provide operations with a minimal scar surgery technique.
I was educated in Oxford and graduated from the University of Bristol Medical School before my apprenticeship took me to Manchester as a Lecturer and Yorkshire as a Surgical Trainee and the University Tutor in Surgery at Leeds.
Having completed my training in Yorkshire and Scotland, I obtained a fellowship to the National Cancer Centre Hospital in Tokyo, Japan in 2005, followed by a prestigious one year position as the Senior Clinical Fellow at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia in 2006, where I developed my practice in thoracosopic and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for oesophageal and gastric cancer, reflux and hiatus hernia and started my practice in bariatric surgery.
I am currently the Chair of the Bariatric Working Group at Spire Manchester Hospital.
I lecture, chair sessions and provide hands-on workshop training on an annual basis at the Society for Gastrointestinal Intervention International Conference and previously at BOMSS.

I am an occasional / retired rugby player with ongoing interests in mountain biking, climbing, winter mountaineering, windsurfing and tennis. I also have more sedate interests as a violinist, pianist and calligrapher. However, my passion is to single-handedly work my sheep and chicken farm and to develop a fully self-sufficient and self-sustainable life. Any spare time is spent herding my animals (or children!).
