Direct access diagnostic clinic

Some patients require quick and simple access to a known out-patient diagnostic test. At South Wales Heart Centre there are some tests which are suitable for patients to be referred directly from their GP. Whilst these clinics will not provide access to a consultation, they do enable patients and their GP’s rapid access to diagnostic testing and results.

What tests are directly accessible?

We have four cardiac diagnostic tests that are available for rapid access. These include:

Echocardiography (supported by consultant cardiologists Dr Navroz Masani and Dr Richard Wheeler)

24 hour blood pressure monitoring

Cardiac MRI (supported by Dr Andrew Wood)

We provide patients with a single fixed cost for these diagnostic services which includes a report sent directly to your referring GP. Your GP will then discuss the results with you and decide the best course of care for your clinical need.
