Staff at Spire Alexandra Hospital leave the cars behind to support National Thrombosis Week

08 May 2015

Several of the staff at Spire Alexandra Hospital ditched the car and walked or cycled to work to support National Thrombosis week

We are very pleased to announce that the Spire Alexandra has maintained its VTE Exemplar Centre status. We are one of only 39 hospitals nationally that have been awarded this accolade.

The Exemplar Centres Network remains central to the continued success of the National VTE PreventionProgramme. NHS England undertook a process of revalidation to ensure that we are continuing to achieve the standards expected from those who have a role to play in delivering high quality VTE prevention.

The process focused on four areas central to the policy for the prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE). These areas were risk assessment, thromboprophylaxis, root cause analysis and patient information.

Having reviewed our portfolio of evidence, we are delighted to be able to confirm that the Spire Alexandra Hospital has retained its status as a VTE Exemplar Centre.
