Our expert breast consultants

Spire Wellesley Hospital provides comprehensive breast care through the one-stop breast clinic.

Our team of expert breast consultants and radiologists will provide you with the highest standard of care individually tailored to meet your specific needs.

Our breast clinic provides advice, support and treatment for women who are concerned with a lump, pain or changes to their breasts.

What does the clinic provide?

  • An outpatient appointment with one of our Consultants to discuss you condition and treatment options
  • Expert physical examination
  • Consultation time with our highly experienced breast-care nurse
  • Breast imaging (if required)
  • Fine needle aspiration cytology and core biopsy pathology if required
  • Onsite breast MRI facility is also available
  • A follow up consultation with one of our Consultants to discuss your results

Do I need a referral letter?

A referral letter is not required for self-funding patients. You will only need a referral letter if you are using your private medical insurance.

Referrals can be made by your GP or any other medical practitioner.

How do I book an appointment?

Our one-stop breast clinic is available every Thursday afternoon and to find our more or to arrange an appointment, please call our friendly Treatment Enquiry Advisers on 01702 447 926.

What happens at the appointment?

All of the tests you require are usually completed at your first outpatient visit, and you can often get the results the same day.

Tests may include:

  • Clinical breast examination
  • Mammogram
  • Ultrasound scan
  • Needle biopsy
  • Pathology

For women over 50 years of age we recommend that you participate in the NHS screening programme, which offers you a mammogram every 3 years. If you wish to supplement this with a visit to one of our Breast Clinics 'in-between' then of course we would be pleased to see you to provide added reassurance.

If you are aged under 40, then the clinic visit here will involve a consultation with one of our specialists Consultants, but may not involve a mammogram.

How much does it cost?

For self-funding patients we offer a fixed fee (dependant on age) personal breast screening package that includes:

  • the cost of your initial consultation fee with one of our experienced Consultants
  • a series of tests specifically tailored to your individual requirements and circumstances
  • a follow-up appointment with the Consultant to discuss your results

For women under the age of 30 the cost for the one-stop breast clinic is £460
For women aged 30 to 39 is £580
For women of 40+ is £695
