Preparing for breast uplift surgery at Spire Wellesley Hospital

Getting here

Spire Wellesley Hospital is a couple of miles from Southend town centre, just off the A127. We’re a short taxi ride from the train station, which has a fast and regular connection to London Liverpool Street. We also have free on-site parking available for you and your visitors.

Your consultations

Once you’ve made an enquiry, we can arrange your first appointment within a few days.

You’ll meet one of our experienced cosmetic surgeons in a private consultation room. They’ll ask you about your medical history and why you’d like to have breast uplift surgery. There’ll be an opportunity for you to ask any questions about your treatment and recovery. You can also find out more about:

  • What’s involved, including the anaesthetic and any risks or complications
  • Tests that you may need before surgery
  • How long it will take to get back to normal
  • What support is available

There’s a cooling-off period for two weeks after your appointment. This gives you time to make sure you want to proceed with surgery.

Before you go ahead with the operation, you may need to have a pre-operative assessment.

Breast uplift surgery: your procedure

When you arrive at Spire Wellesley Hospital, you’ll meet your surgical team and anaesthetist before your operation. You’ll have a general anaesthetic for the procedure, which means you’ll be asleep throughout.

The operation usually takes between one and three hours. It involves the surgeon making cuts (incisions) in order to lift and reshape your breasts. They’ll use the techniques you agreed during your consultation.

You may be able to go home on the same day as your surgery but, if you need to stay overnight, you’ll have your own comfortable, en-suite room that provides all the home comforts you need, including:

  • TV
  • En-suite bathroom
  • Armchair
  • Safe
