I am an accredited subspecialist in urogynaecology in Birmingham and am a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at the Birmingham Women’s NHS Foundation Trust. I am the clinical lead for Paediatric and Adolescent gynaecology at my NHS Trust. I have extensive experience in dealing with teenagers with period problems, pelvic pain, etc.
In addition to urogynaecology (prolapse, incontinence, recurrent bladder infections, painful bladder) and adolescent gynaecology, I provide high quality services related to general gynaecological problems including menstrual dysfunction, contraception, menopause and pelvic pain. I am a registered practitioner with many health insurance companies.
I trained in the UK and India, with travelling fellowships to the Cleveland Clinic, Florida and Nijmegen, Netherlands. During training, I gained experience in all areas of obstetrics and gynaecology. I spent three years (2005 - 2007) acquiring skills in urogynaecology, reconstructive pelvic surgery and associated medical fields.
I did my clinical research fellowship at the Birmingham Women’s Hospital and the University of Birmingham. My research MD thesis (University of Birmingham) was into chronic pelvic pain. I am an active researcher and am a chief investigator on a number of studies. Currently, I am the chairperson of the British society of Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology.
