I am an esteemed Consultant General Surgeon with a particular expertise in weight loss surgery (bariatric surgery) and a wealth of experience in managing various abdominal conditions. With expertise in laparoscopic surgery, I perform a range of procedures including sleeve gastrectomy, Roux N Y Gastric bypass, mini gastric bypass, gastric band removals, cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal), anti-reflux surgery (fundoplication and hiatus hernia repair), and abdominal wall hernia (inguinal, umbilical, femoral, incisional hernia) repairs.
Throughout my career, I have completed over 2,500 general surgical operations, including a significant number of laparoscopic cholecystectomies (1000 +), anti-reflux surgeries, and hernia repairs. I have also performed approximately 600 weight loss surgeries, primarily laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass procedures, as well as gastric band removals as well as revisional bariatric surgery.
My expertise in bariatric surgery was further enhanced through prestigious post-CCT Fellowships at St George Hospital in Sydney, Australia, and Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, UK. At St George Hospital, I trained under renowned bariatric surgeons, Dr. Michael Talbot and Dr. Ken Loi, consolidating my experience in bariatric surgery.
I have held positions as a Locum Consultant UGI and Bariatric Surgeon at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust before securing a substantive position as a Consultant UGI and Bariatric Surgeon at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, and Walsall Manor Hospital, Walsall. I actively contribute to the Black Country Collaborative for Bariatric Surgery and served as the Clinical Governance Lead at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton. I have currently undertaken the role of Medical Appraiser at New Cross Hospital since Aug 2026.
In addition to my clinical work, I am involved in several Quality Improvement Projects at New Cross Hospital, including advocating for Robotic UGI Services. I am also a key member of the Black Country Bariatric Collaborative and am contributing towards ongoing reshaping of Bariatric services at Walsall Manor Hospital as a part of Black Country Bariatric Collaborative.
I completed my research in Basic Science and Vascular Surgery and have published extensively in peer-reviewed surgical journals. Through my research I obtained an MD (Doctor of Medicine), a research degree qualification. I am a sought-after presenter at national and international surgical conferences, where I share my expertise and research findings with fellow professionals.
Please note: I offer gastric sleeve surgery and gastric bypass surgery at Spire Parkway Hospital, Solihull only.
