Mr Fahid Rasul
Consultant Neurosurgeon and Spinal Surgeon
FRCS (Neuro.Surg) MPhil (Cantab) MSc BSc (Hons)
"The Spire Parkway Hospital follows the most rigorous standards for patient safety and quality thus ensuring patients receive the best healthcare possible."
I am a consultant neurosurgeon with a special interest in spinal surgery. I am dual trained in complex spine surgery having completed two fellowships in national centres of excellence (Royal London Hospital and Guys and St. Thomas' NHS Trust). I was one of only two neurosurgeons in the UK to be awarded the British Association of Spine Surgeons travelling fellowship in 2020.
I perform the full range of spinal surgery from simple to more complex procedures including minimally invasive surgery where appropriate. I also perform brain surgery for brain tumours, hydrocephalus and other brain diseases.
To date I have performed over 2,000 neurosurgical procedures.
I work within the framework of a multidisciplinary team ensuring all patients are provided with non-operative and operative options discussing the benefits and risks of each in order to provide individuals with a personalised treatment plan.
In addition to my clinical work I teach and train neurosurgeons and medical students. I give lectures on spinal surgery at national and international courses and conferences. I am currently a clinical personal tutor at the University of Warwick Medical School and was previously the education lead for the British Association of Spine Surgeons trainee committee.
I have a keen academic interest and have published my work in numerous internationally acclaimed journals.
