Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Shobhit Baijal at Spire include:
I also offer the following treatments: immunotherapy, targeted therapy and chemo-embolisation.
I am a dedicated Consultant Oncologist based at The Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust. I studied medicine in London and obtained a BSc Honours in immunology and cell pathology from University College London, before graduating with my medical degree from St Bartholomews Medical School in 2001. I returned to the Midlands to complete my general medical and oncology training and took up post as consultant oncologist in September 2011. I am the Clinical Lead for Oncology at the Heart of England NHS Trust and actively treat cancer patients across three NHS hospital sites (Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospital).
I specialise in all forms of cancer drug treatment including chemotherapy, immuno-oncology, precision oncology and chemo-embolisation.
I have a large clinical trial portfolio and am the UK Chief Investigator for the international COTEZO trial, manipulating immunotherapies to treat patients with advanced colorectal cancer. I am also a Principle Investigator in national and international lung and colorectal clinical trials. I am at the forefront of the clinical utility of liquid biopsy in managing lung and colorectal cancer patients and have several studies underway in this context. I have numerous publications and regularly present at regional, national and international cancer meetings. I sit on the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation advisory panel.
I am extremely passionate about cancer survivorship and have developed and led on the health and wellbeing clinics at The Heart of England NHS Trust. Being a keen sportsman, I have a specialist interest in the benefits of exercise for cancer patients and survivors. I have brought together a team of specialists at Spire Little Aston and Spire Parkway Hospital who are able to deliver individual exercise programmes for cancer patients, regardless of their diagnosis and treatment status.
I aim to deliver cutting edge, individualised and evidence based cancer treatments for my patients whilst ensuring their health and wellbeing is also prioritised.
