I am a practising ENT consultant surgeon in Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham. I see patients with ear, nose and throat related problems in adults and children with special interests in diseases of ear and skull base.
Some of my specialities include ear surgery for treating infections and hearing rehabilitation such as grommet insertion, repair of ear drum perforation, hearing bone reconstruction, mastoidectomy, stapedotomy. I am a core surgical member of the Nottingham Auditory Implant programme and perform hearing implant surgeries (Cochlear implant, middle ear implant and Bone conducting hearing implant). I am also a core member of the Skull Base multidisciplinary team in QMC, Nottingham and see patients referred from all over East Midlands for tumours involving ear such as vestibular schwannoma (acoustic neuroma), meningioma, glomus tumours and paraganglioma.
My other areas of interest include management of tinnitus, dizziness, vertigo and problems with balance related to inner ear – such as BPPV, Meniere’s disease, labyrinthitis, vestibular migraine and superior semi-circular canal dehiscence. I have over 20 years of experience in ENT, having worked in India and U.K.
I graduated from Mumbai University in India in 1999 and completed residency in ENT from Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Hospital, one of the busiest units in Mumbai University, in 2003. I subsequently acquired further training in adult and paediatric ENT in Manchester and Liverpool, enrolling as a specialty registrar in Health Education Northwest Deanery.
I have worked in busy tertiary and quaternary centres like Royal Manchester Children’s hospital, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Salford Royal Hospital. After this dual country training, I completed two esteemed U.K. fellowships specialising in complex ear surgeries and hearing implants in Guys and St Thomas Hospital, London followed by lateral skull base surgery and hearing implants in Salford Royal Hospital and The Richard Ramsden centre for Hearing Implants in Manchester.
I have completed a Master’s in healthcare science and practice from University of Central Lancashire, which has strengthened my knowledge and application towards research. Apart from my clinical practice, I enjoy teaching and training specialty registrars and otology fellows in Nottingham. I actively participate in teaching medical school students in Nottingham University. I run the Nottingham Otology and Audiology Updates course training future ENT surgeons, Otologists and Audiologists.
