Specialises in
I am a Consultant ENT and Thyroid Surgeon with over 25 years of experience in the treatment of ENT and thyroid conditions. I am a Clinical Associate Professor with the University of Nottingham and a Director for Clinical Skills for Nottingham Medical School.
In 1993 I earned my primary medical qualification at the University of Aberdeen, after which I undertook my basic surgical training at the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital and Guy's Hospital in London. Whilst in London, I successfully achieved the General Surgery Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, and Fellowship in Otolaryngology of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.
I then went on to join the prestigious Oxford Surgical Training Rotation to complete my surgical training in ENT, Thyroid and Head and Neck Surgery. Following that I went to further my surgical training with an International Head and Neck Surgical Fellowship in Sydney, Australia under the tutelage of Professor Chris O'Brien. I experienced working in a different healthcare setting, and with patients from all over the Southern Hemisphere. The Surgical Fellowship also provided invaluable operating experience, allowing me to operate on a wide variety of conditions including complex head and neck reconstruction with a world leader in Head and Neck Surgery.
Upon completion of my fellowships and training, I was appointed Consultant ENT and Thyroid Surgeon at Nottingham University Hospitals in 2008. I have also been Clinical Lead for Head and Neck Cancer, Foundation Training Program Director, Educational and Clinical Supervisor for junior doctors, and was awarded a Health Education England Teaching Award as recognition for my role with junior doctors. I have been passionate about medical education and have recently completed a Masters in Medical Education at University College London.
I enjoy all aspects of her clinical practice and make the patient at the centre of any management plan.
