Professional profile

I qualified in medicine in 1996 and completed my specialist training in Paediatrics in the London Deanery. I am one of the few formally trained paediatric allergists in the UK.

I have worked in some of the best teaching hospitals in the UK, including the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, Great Ormond Street Hospital for children in London, St Mary’s Hospital Paddington, The Royal London Hospital and Nottingham Children's Hospital.

I have previously held the post of Honorary Consultant in Paediatric Allergy at Imperial College London. I am an expert in interpreting skin prick tests for allergic disorders in children, and offer sub-lingual immunotherapy (Grazax) for severe hay fever, cat and house dust mite allergy.

In regards to behavioural disorders, I do the initial assessment for ADHD/autism, analyse feedback from teachers/parents on an accredited scoring system and make a presumptive diagnosis. If required, I recommend referrals to the local NHS service for multidisciplinary assessment and treatment.

I have participated in many clinical trials, published extensively in peer reviewed indexed journals and presented in many national and international conferences. I am frequently invited to deliver talks to GPs and other health professionals.

Research interests: I’ve been an investigator in many trials, which have been published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and I’ve also presented papers in many international conferences. I’m also frequently invited to speak about food allergy and eczema management, both at regional meetings as well as international conferences, and I edit the Online Journal of Clinical Audits.
