Professional profile

I did my General Medicine training at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust between 2005 and 2007. During this period, I loved caring for cancer patients so decided to pursue my career in this field of medicine.

I spent 6 years as Specialty trainee in Oncology East Midlands Medical Training Programme - North. During this period I successfully completed Postgraduate Certificate in Oncology from Newcastle University with distinction, MSc in Oncology from the University of Nottingham with a research project on Pancreatic and Bile Duct cancer, Acute Oncology module from Liverpool University, Management course from Warwick University and Intensive teaching course from the University of Nottingham.

After completion of my specialist training in oncology, I also dedicated two years in Lab based translational research at the University of Nottingham evaluating the role of RecQ helicases DNA repair in Breast Cancer.

In 2015, I was appointed as Consultant in Medical Oncology at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust NUH. I have a specialist interest in the management of Breast, Lung, Mesothelioma, Pancreatic, Gall Bladder, Liver, Bile Duct and Neuroendocrine tumours. I provide cancer services to NUH and Kings Mill Hospital, Mansfield. I am also Clinical Governance and Audit lead Oncology Department at NUH.

I am actively involved in the teaching of junior doctors, scientists and medical students. I am also module convenor for MSc Oncology course at the University of Nottingham. I am actively involved in clinical research and I am currently the principal investigator for several clinical trials at NUH. I have over 20 publications in well-reputed peer-reviewed journals. In recognition of my research and teaching work, I have been recently awarded the title of Honorary Clinical Associate Professor by School of Medicine at the University of Nottingham.
