I am a highly experienced Consultant Laparoscopic Hepatobiliary (liver and gallbladder) Surgeon at Spire Norwich Hospital with extensive experience in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.
I am highly skilled in performing complex minimally invasive (keyhole) procedures such as cholecystectomy (removal of the gallbladder) and hernia repair (both keyhole and traditional ‘open’).
I have performed several thousand of these operations during the last 35 years of my practice and achieved excellent results with an exceptionally low complication rate, world-class outcomes and a very high level of patient satisfaction.
I qualified in 1988 from the University of Nottingham and completed my junior doctor training in the Trent region. I then pursued specialist surgical training primarily in Leicester, complemented by nearly three years of advanced training in Adelaide, South Australia. This international experience allowed me to develop a broad and in-depth understanding of complex laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.

Home life is busy for me as I enjoy spending as much time as possible with my 3 amazing children.
We are lucky to live on an old farm in South Norfolk where I very much value the fresh air and open spaces, walking my dog and tending to livestock – when I’m not fixing up my old vintage tractor!
I love working with my hands and my passion is carpentry. I actually worked as a cabinet-maker’s apprentice before deciding to apply to medical school all those years ago!
I have combined my love of the water with this passion and have built several wooden boats over the years although sadly at the moment I have little time to sail them!
