Mr Laurence Clarke
Consultant Urological Surgeon
BM BCh (Oxon) BA (Oxon) FRCS (Urol)
I am a Consultant Urological Surgeon with a specialist practice in male and female urinary incontinence, reconstructive urology, urethral reconstruction, urinary tract infections and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). I also practice in the breadth of general urology. I offer a range of treatments for the below conditions and will ensure that your care is absolutely tailored to your specific needs. I am also able to offer a range of minimally invasive procedures such as the “UroLift” procedure for prostate problems, “Bulkamid” injections for urinary incontinence, and bladder injections for overactive bladder symptoms.
I was educated in Chester before going on to read medicine and human physiological sciences at Wadham College, University of Oxford, from where I graduated in 2004. I subsequently moved back to the North West of England to complete my pre-registration house officer post and basic surgical training, before joining the North West Deanery for my Urology specialist training in 2009. I gained my FRCS (Urol) in 2013 and was appointed to the role of Consultant Urological Surgeon at Salford Royal Hospital in 2014.
In addition to my clinical practice, I have also developed interests in postgraduate and undergraduate medical education, quality improvement, and medical leadership. I have completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education, and a Diploma in Leading Healthcare Improvements, and have led a number of quality improvement initiatives and service development programmes, for which I have been awarded a level 1 clinical excellence award.
I have held several leadership positions at Salford Royal, including the position of Associate Director of Postgraduate Medical Education and Surgical Tutor (2015-2018), and Clinical Director for the Salford Urology service (2018-2021). I am currently the Chair of the Division of Surgery and Perioperative Care for Salford Royal.
