I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Bolton Hospital and the Spire Hospital Manchester. My specialist interest is surgery of the lower limb and in particular knee surgery. I perform hip and knee joint replacement surgery and I have a keen interest in sports injuries to the knee, performing arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, knee ligament reconstruction including ACL reconstruction and complex ligament reconstructions.
I became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland in 1998 and proceeded on to orthopaedic training in Manchester as the Sir Harry Platt Research Fellow. I became an Intercollegiate Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2003 and was awarded the certificate of completion of specialist surgical training in 2005.
I graduated from St Andrew's University after a three year pre-clinical course, before completing my clinical training at Manchester University and qualifying in 1993. During my last year of training I undertook a Fellowship in knee surgery and travelled to the United States to spend time with several world renowned surgeons in Boston and Indianapolis. I was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Bolton Hospital in October 2005.
I regularly teach on knee replacement and trauma surgery courses, as well as being actively involved in the training of junior surgeons within the NHS.
