I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Royal Bolton Hospital and Spire Hospital Manchester for over 18 years, specialising in lower limb surgery with a particular focus on knee surgery.
My aim is to work closely with each patient to identify the most suitable treatment for their condition, lifestyle and personal goals. When surgery is needed, I tailor treatment plans to the individual, taking into account factors such as age, activity levels and long-term expectations. For example, some patients undergoing knee replacement surgery wish to remain active in sport, and I adapt treatment accordingly where appropriate.
I perform both hip and knee replacement surgery and have a strong interest in sports-related knee injuries. My practice includes arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, knee ligament reconstruction, including ACL reconstruction, and more complex ligament procedures.
I also have extensive experience in computer-assisted knee replacement surgery, including both total and partial knee replacements. In addition, I undertake revision knee replacement surgery for patients with worn or failing implants.
I perform between 150 and 200 joint replacements each year and regularly teach on knee replacement courses both in the UK and internationally.
Alongside my clinical work, I am actively involved in training junior surgeons within the NHS. I also serve on the Specialist Advisory Committee for Orthopaedics, helping oversee orthopaedic training nationally.
