I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Bolton Hospital and the Spire Hospital Manchester for over 18 years. My specialist interest is surgery of the lower limb and in particular knee surgery.

My main aim is to work with my patients to determine the best treatment for their diagnosis and their needs. Tailoring any surgical interventions to not only their age, but also their aims and activities. Some patients who have a knee replacement want to be able to continue with their sports. I fine tune my knee replacements to the patients needs and aims.

I perform hip and knee joint replacement surgery and I have a keen interest in sports injuries to the knee, performing arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, knee ligament reconstruction including ACL reconstruction and complex ligament reconstructions.

One of my main interests is computer assisted knee replacement surgery, both total knee and partial knee replacement, of which I have extensive experience.

I also perform revision knee replacements for patients who have worn or failing implants.

I perform between 150-200 joint replacements per year.

I regularly teach on knee replacement courses, locally and internationally.

I am actively involved in the training of junior surgeons within the NHS, as a local trainer. I am also on the Specialist advisory committee for Orthopaedics responsible for overview of training nationally.
