MD MBChB MRCOG BSc (MedSci)
I am a Consultant Subspecialist Urogynaecologist at St Mary's Hospital, Manchester, with over seven years of consultant experience. I specialise in the full range of female pelvic floor disorders, with particular expertise in pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, and complex pelvic floor dysfunction. I hold subspecialty accreditation in urogynaecology from the General Medical Council — the highest level of formal recognition in this field in the UK — and my practice combines technical precision with a patient-centred approach that prioritises clear communication and individualised care.
My practice covers the comprehensive assessment and surgical management of pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence, alongside the investigation and treatment of overactive bladder and complex voiding dysfunction. I have extensive experience in both reconstructive and minimally invasive pelvic floor surgery, and I have developed my surgical practice to incorporate robotic-assisted techniques using the da Vinci system, adapting established approaches where this offers meaningful benefit in terms of precision and recovery. I work closely with specialist pelvic floor physiotherapists and bladder health nurses, and I take a conservative-first approach, ensuring that non-surgical options are fully explored before any operative intervention is considered.
Over my career I have performed thousands of pelvic floor procedures, including prolapse reconstruction and surgery for stress urinary incontinence, as well as complex revisional cases. Urogynaecology is a subspecialty in which the breadth and complexity of a surgeon's caseload is as significant as volume alone. My practice at St Mary's — one of the largest and most established urogynaecology units in the UK — has given me extensive experience across the full spectrum of pelvic floor conditions, including the assessment and management of complications related to pelvic mesh, as a core member of the St Mary's Mesh Complications Service.
I serve as Clinical Lead for Urogynaecology at The Warrell Unit, St Mary's Hospital, where I lead the development and organisation of one of the largest specialist pelvic floor services in the country. In this role I contribute to service planning, quality improvement, and the evolution of established surgical techniques, including their adaptation for robotic-assisted practice using the da Vinci system.
I am actively involved in shaping urogynaecology training and education at a national level. I chair the Training Committee of the British Society of Urogynaecology (BSUG) and represent BSUG on the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Subspecialty Training Committee. I also serve as Subspecialty Training Programme Supervisor for Urogynaecology at The Warrell Unit.
My doctoral research at the University of Manchester examined outcomes following severe childbirth-related pelvic floor injury, and the relationship between pelvic floor dysfunction and body image. These insights continue to inform my clinical approach, particularly in supporting women through the significant physical and emotional impact that pelvic floor conditions can have on daily life and wellbeing.
I am also a member of North West Gynaecology, an established group of consultant gynaecologists providing specialist private care across the North West, and I am recognised by all major UK private medical insurers including Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality and WPA.
