I qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist at Manchester Metropolitan University in 1985. After 10 years working with a mixed paediatric caseload I moved to the Manchester Paediatric Cochlear Implant Programme at Manchester Royal Infirmary where I developed an interest in Auditory Verbal Therapy.
In 2003 I qualified as a Certified Auditory verbal Therapist (AVT) and later that year I took on the role of Paediatric Co-ordinator at the Cochlear Implant Programme. I train and lecture both in the UK and internationally and since qualifying as a Cert AVT I've mentored a number of therapists in the UK, Europe and Dubai.
In 2013 I was invited to join the team at WE Listen International Inc as a consultant in professional education and training, participating on training programmes in Portugal, Jordan and Dubai.
I am committed to increasing the awareness and availability of Auditory Verbal Therapy to both professionals and families of hearing impaired children. There are currently fewer than 20 certified Auditory Verbal therapists in the UK.
