Professional profile

I qualified in Physiotherapy in 2008 and worked in the NHS, private settings and sports settings, gaining a broad range of experience in all core areas of Physiotherapy. I went on to specialise in musculoskeletal outpatients and sports injuries and attained an MSc in Sports Physiotherapy from the University of Bath. I have a keen interest in sports injury management and have a wealth of experience in a wide range of sports including: rugby union, swimming, running, cycling and waterpolo. My passion is to prevent athletes being hindered by injury thereby, helping them achieve their goals. Alongside my role at Spire Perform I work for the Amateur Swimming Association and GB Waterpolo screening athletes, promoting injury prevention and prehabilitation.

I have a specialist interest in injury prevention through athlete screening. My MSc research investigated the effects of Clinical Pilates on functional movement and injury prevention in recreational runners. Functional screening is an effective way to identify biomechanical imbalances and inefficient movement patterns that contribute to injury. These imbalances can then be corrected through physiotherapy to reduce the risk of injury.

I am also an APPI trained Clinical Pilates instructor and I lead the Clinical Pilates service at Spire Perform. Clinical Pilates is method of core strengthening aiming to retrain normal patterns of movement from a central stable core. This rehabilitation method is effective for a variety of problems including spinal pain, joint dysfunction, muscle imbalance and sports injury with the focus on improving strength, alignment, control, balance and posture.
