I graduated from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan, in 1980. After completing my initial training, I came to the UK in 1981 and completed further post-graduate training in various hospitals around the country.
In 1990, I was appointed Clinical Lecturer at the University College Hospital, London. I completed my MD and was appointed Senior Registrar in 1992, again at University College Hospital. In 1996, I was appointed Consultant Chest Physician at Chase Farm Hospital, Barnet.

I am a founder member and treasurer of the UK-based charity "4 Peace of Mind". Our aim is to respond rapidly to any disaster providing emergency shelters, clean water, sanitation systems, medical help and clothing.
"4 Peace of Mind" works in close collaboration with local groups and communities in disaster zones to provide financial, physical, technical and moral support. Among our recent involvements across the world have been with Burma, China, Pakistan and Haiti, following large-scale natural disasters in these countries.
