I undertook my surgical training based in Edinburgh. This included two years doing research into arterial disease and a years fellowship in Sydney, Australia where I received advanced training in minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of vascular disease.

I was appointed as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh in 2009.

I undertake all aspects of vascular surgery. I have extensive experience in the management of varicose veins, including radiofrequency ablation, open surgery and foam sclerotherapy. I am one of the specialist team, based at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, which manages complex aortic aneurysms for the whole of Scotland.

In addition, I have helped implement the use of Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) in Edinburgh a newer, less invasive method of treating abdominal aortic aneurysms. My other areas of expertise are in carotid artery surgery, lower limb bypass surgery and the formation of fistulae for haemodialysis access.

I play a leading role in the education of junior surgeons, running both practical and online vascular surgical courses.
