I am a fully accredited Consultant General Surgeon. I have been working as a Consultant in NHS Borders since 2015.
I completed the Higher Specialty Surgical Training in Iraq and qualified as a General Surgeon and Fellow of the Iraqi Commission of Surgeons (FICS) in 1998. After completing the Arabic Board exam as Top Graduate, I was chosen by the Authorities of a prestigious University of Belgium to continue higher surgical training in Belgium. In Brussels and Gent (Belgium), I trained and then worked in the most world-renowned center. I gained a double qualification in surgery (Belgian Board of Surgery) and a diploma in microsurgery.
After moving to Scotland, I was appointed as a consultant in the Borders General Hospital. My practice encompasses all areas of General Surgery. In my private practice, I will focus on open hernia repairs; including inguinal, femoral, umbilical/para-umbilical hernias and minor skin lumps.
