I am a UK-trained, fully accredited (GMC) Consultant Plastic Surgeon, working in the Edinburgh plastic surgery unit with a special interest in breast reconstruction, skin cancer and burns. Educated in the UK, I graduated from The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1991, followed by a year as an Anatomy lecturer before completing my basic surgical training and becoming a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons in 1997.
I undertook two years of research, gaining an MD degree and have published widely in the medical and plastic surgery journals. I completed my specialist training in Plastic Surgery in Edinburgh, and Glasgow (Canniesburn), and undertook an Oncoplastic/Microsurgical Reconstructive Breast Fellowship in Newcastle. I also completed a Cosmetic Fellowship at the Institute of Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery in London, working with Jan Stanek ('10 Years Younger','Plastic Fantastic'), Dai Davis and Nick Percival ('Plastic Surgery School, Extreme Makeover,' Make Me Perfect'), appearing in episodes of Channel 4’s ‘10 Years Younger’ and ‘Embarrassing Bodies’.
I am a full member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), and have an interest in a wide range of cosmetic and aesthetic procedures including rhinoplasty (nose surgery), abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), breast reduction and augmentation, correction of prominent ears as well as facial rejuvenation with Botox and fillers. I am also an Honorary Senior Surgical Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh.
