I have a special interest in Reproductive Medicine, including the assessment and treatment of couples with infertility and recurrent miscarriage. I also treat women with menopause problems, both with conventional HRT and also with non-hormonal alternatives. Although I’m not operating in theatre at Spire, I offer procedures under local anaesthetic and outpatient hysteroscopy. I work closely with a group of colleagues who are able to offer surgical procedures under general anaesthetic if needed.

After qualifying from Edinburgh University Medical School in 1992 I chose a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and was awarded a prestigious MRC Clinical Fellowship. After completing my MD I went on to complete my specialist training in South East Scotland, and qualified with subspecialisation in Reproductive Medicine in 2007. I've been a consultant with NHS Borders and I also work at the Edinburgh Centre for Reproductive Medicine and Endocrinology at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

I provide a sympathetic and constructive approach for women with gynaecological problems, and work in a holistic and caring manner. I appreciate how difficult some women find gynaecology appointments and try and make this as smooth a journey as possible for them.

I perform gynaecology ultrasound scans, allowing prompt diagnosis and treatment of gynae symptoms.

I am a British Menopause Society recognised menopause specialist.

I do not offer consultations to women who are pregnant or those with urogynaecology problems.
