Dr Colin Stirrat

Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist

MBChB, BSc. Med. Sci (Hons), MRCP, PhD

I undertook specialist Cardiology training in Edinburgh, completing training in 2018. I left Scotland for Sydney, Australia, to complete a clinical training fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology, before returning to NHS Lothian as a Consultant in 2019.

My specialist area is treating and finding solutions for patients for cardiac rhythm disturbances who have symptoms such as palpitations and blackouts, including inherited cardiac arrhythmias. I specialise in carrying out catheter ablation procedures including atrial fibrillation ablation, cardioversions, and implanting cardiac pacemakers including complex devices such as CRT and ICDs.

I am accredited with the European Society of Cardiology as a devices and electrophysiology specialist. I am a member of the Scottish Cardiac Society, British Cardiac Society and European Heart Rhythm Association of the European Society of Cardiology.
