The sun is shining and doesn’t look like it’s going away. While this is a good thing, remember when fasting in preparation for your procedure you will not have your normal energy supplies as usual and you might be more dehydrated. Remember:
- you can still drink clear fluids up to two hours prior to your procedure.
- take extra care when getting up or when doing what you would perceive as normal exercise; walking down stairs, standing up from a seated position or getting out of your car.
Sara Morgan, Matron at Spire Cambridge Lea adds, “Make sure you have somebody to accompany you prior to and on arrival at the hospital. Moving around in the heat when fully fed and hydrated can have an effect on your body so be extra vigilant when fasting prior to a procedure/treatment, you can still drink clear fluids up to two hours before your procedure so keep hydrated.”
