I have been a Consultant Surgeon at Medway Maritime NHS Trust since 2020 and am currently the Speciality Lead for General Surgery. My training was undertaken in the South East of England which involved working in many hospitals around the Kent, Surrey and Sussex, which has enabled me to gain a deep understanding of the region and the patients within it. I have an interest in trauma and undertook a trauma fellowship in South Africa in 2017/2018.
I am passionate about decreasing health inequalities and improving healthcare services, like to work hard and I'm dedicated to providing patient-centred care. First and foremost I would like to assess and investigate any abdominal symptoms in order to provide a diagnosis with follow-up advice and treatment in a way that is individual to the patient.
I perform minimally-invasive operations for benign colorectal conditions and colorectal cancer, complex abdominal wall reconstruction for incisional herniae, benign conditions of the anus including fistula-in-ano, fissure-in-ano and haemorrhoids, and general surgical conditions including pilonidal disease, gall bladder disease (laparoscopic cholecystectomy), inguinal herniae and umbilical herniae. I am also a JAG accredited endoscopist for both upper and lower gastrointestinal investigations (OGD and colonoscopy).
I would consider my practice to include a high volume of surgery on a regular basis in the NHS and privately. I perform minimally invasive bowel cancer operations every week and have multiple lists per week for hernia, gall bladder and coloproctology operations.
I have just relinquished the Patient Safety Lead role for General and Colorectal Surgery at Medway Maritime Hospital and have taken up the Audit Lead role. I am the Surgical Lead for General and Colorectal Surgery at Medway Maritime Hospital NHS Trust.
