I have extensive in-depth knowledge and skills in all aspects of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. I use my wealth of experience and skills to diagnose and treat problems including heartburn/reflux, indigestion, bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, constipation, rectal bleeding and liver problems. I am a highly skilled endoscopist, putting patient experience and comfort at the centre of my care.
I work in partnership with my patients, and listen to their problems with respect and empathy. I personally guide my patients through their diagnostic and treatment journey, delivering high quality care and ensuring patient satisfaction.
I am a specialist in Gastroenterology with extensive experience in digestive diseases, hepatology and endoscopy. I was appointed as a consultant at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust (now part of University Hospital Sussex) in 2014.
I have studied medicine at Cambridge and Oxford Universities, and completed specialist training in London, working at major teaching hospitals including King's College Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital and Barts and the Royal London. I have a strong academic background, having spent a year as a research fellow in Australia and was awarded a PhD at Imperial College London for my research in immunology.
At University Hospitals Sussex, I am a specialist endoscopist and perform advanced procedures including colonoscopy and polypectomy, ERCP and therapeutic endoscopy. I also lead the HPB cancer service and I am a key member of weekly held liver and inflammatory bowel disease specialist meetings.
I am a Senior Lecturer at Brighton and Sussex Medical School where I deliver lectures, and examine medical students. I also regularly lecture postgraduate doctors in training, and teach endoscopy skills on the National Joint Advisory Group (JAG) training courses.

I am a family man with two young children. I take a keen interest in outdoor pursuits including running, hiking, cycling and skiing. I also enjoy reading and the theatre, as well as team sports.
