Mr Vesely studied medicine at Cambridge and Oxford Universities, qualifying in 1991. His general surgical training was undertaken in teaching hospitals in Oxford and London, and in 1995 he obtained the general Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Between 1996 and 1998 he was a Clinical Research Fellow at the highly regarded RAFT Institute of Plastic Surgery at Mount Vernon Hospital, Middlesex, where he developed ways of improving free tissue transfer for reconstructive surgery. This period of research culminated in not only the award of a DM (Doctor of Medicine) from Oxford University but also the much-coveted Hunterian Professorship from the Royal College of Surgeons. He has presented his research studies at many national and international meetings, and has published in numerous medical and scientific journals.
Mr Vesely trained in Plastic Surgery at various centres in London, obtaining the specialist Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery (FRCS Plast) and also the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS) in 2003. Following completion of his training in plastic surgery he spent six months as Microsurgical Fellow at the Toronto General Hospital, Canada to further his specialist experience in complex cancer reconstruction, which was supported by an award from the Worshipful Company of Barbers. His other main interest is aesthetic surgery of the face, breast and body.
In 2004 he was the Aesthetic Fellow at the Wellington Hospital, London and then extended his experience in this field by spending the remainder of that year travelling across Europe and the USA to gain further training from several world-renowned aesthetic surgeons.
In 2005 he took up a consultant position as Plastic Surgeon at St. George's Hospital, London. He is on the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery.
