I am a consultant gynaecologist and minimally invasive surgeon, and I have been a consultant since 2013. I lead the BSGE-accredited Endometriosis Centre at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, part of the St George's, Epsom and St Helier hospital group, and I am an honorary consultant at King's Fertility.

Most of my operating is robotic (da Vinci) or laparoscopic keyhole surgery, which for most women means less pain and a quicker recovery than open surgery. I have carried out more than 2,000 keyhole operations, and on average more than 120 robotic operations a year; my robotic operating lists run here at Spire St Anthony's. Robotic surgery is my preferred approach for complex operations deep in the pelvis, such as removing large fibroids or deep endometriosis from the bowel, bladder and ureters.

Many women come to me after being told that their operation needs a large open incision, or that their fibroids or endometriosis are too extensive to operate on. I am often able to offer keyhole or robotic surgery instead, and I will explain clearly what can be achieved.

I have a particular interest in conditions of the womb that affect fertility and pregnancy: Asherman's syndrome, which I treat by hysteroscopy with ultrasound guidance when the scar tissue is dense; uterine septum and polyps; and caesarean scar niche, which I have been repairing since 2013. With the Centre for Reproductive Immunology and Pregnancy and King's Fertility, I look after women whose miscarriages may be linked to a structural problem of the womb. I carry out more than 150 hysteroscopic procedures a year on average, most as day cases.

I also carry out complex prolapse surgery, including sacrocolpopexy, sacrohysteropexy and hysterectomy with uterosacral ligament suspension, and I see women with the full range of gynaecological problems, from heavy or painful periods and pelvic pain to ovarian cysts, bleeding after the menopause, and menopause and HRT.

I will listen carefully, set out every reasonable option, including no surgery, and give you my recommendation; the decision is yours. You will see me at every stage, and you will receive a detailed letter, usually emailed within 30 minutes of your appointment. Consultations are in English or Arabic, and by video.

I trained at St George's, King's College Hospital, the Royal Marsden and the Royal Surrey County Hospital, where I completed a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery. I train surgeons in robotic and laparoscopic surgery, have published more than 40 peer-reviewed papers, including randomised controlled trials, and received the AAGL's Carlo Romanini Award for research in endometriosis.
