Dr Michael Hii
Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist
MBBS, BCH, BAO, MRCPCH, MSc
I have broad experience in both general paediatrics and gastroenterology. I accept referrals for both disciplines. I have recently set up a Paediatric Gut Investigation Clinic (PGIC) affiliated with Spire Gatwick Park Hospital. This clinic is supported by an experienced nurse, paediatric dietician and consultant paediatric radiologist. This clinic offers a variety of in house diagnostic tests including hydrogen breath test (lactose, sucrose, glucose, fructose, lactulose), skin prick test, 24 hour PH study, endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy), radiological investigations (MRI small bowel, transit marker study, barium swallow). Additionally this clinic also offers a child friendly phlebotomy service catering for all age groups (0-18 yr).
I graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland in 1998 and obtained MRCPCH memberships in 2001. I received general paediatrics and gastroenterology training at London Hospitals. I have worked in tertiary gastroenterology centres including Great Ormond Street Hospital, Royal Free Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. I spent a further two years working as Hepatology Clinical Fellow at the Supraregional Liver Centre at King's College Hospital post CCT.
I am currently Clinical Hepatology Lead in Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital, a tertiary paediatric gastroenterology centre accepting referrals from the wider Sussex area (St Richards, Worthing, Eastbourne and Conquest Hospitals). I hold a locum Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist post in Chelsea and Westminster Hospital prior to the appointment of his current post. I also has an MSc in Paediatrics, which was received in 2003 at Birmingham University.
