As a keen sportsman, Mark had been attending Spire Parkway Hospital for a number of years for physiotherapy treatment after incurring a number of injuries and dealing with the natural wear and tear that comes with playing sports.

Mark's physiotherapist Louise Prottey recommended he see consultant orthopaedic surgeon Mr Arbuthnot for a knee injury that was plaguing him.

From his first initial consultation he felt relaxed and in safe hands as Mr Arbuthnot explained the options available to him.

"I felt his recommendations were reassuring, he explored a number of options and didn’t jump straight into surgery. The treatment options were discussed and were tailored my busy lifestyle. I was given three options, but I relied on the advice of the experts before making my decision. I found the whole process very comforting in helping me make the right decision for me."

Following a supportive and informative consultation, Mark was booked in for his knee arthroscopy procedure.

On the day of his procedure Mark felt at ease and actually felt he had a very relaxing experience!

"On the day of my procedure, the whole team really pulled together to ensure everything ran smoothly. I had no anxieties and felt at ease, I can actually say I found the whole process very relaxing!"

For anyone in a similar position to Mark, he recommends to "get seen early. I wish I had sought advice sooner. Even though I had left it too late to look at preventative treatments, the experts were there when I needed them."

Mark cannot fault his overall experience at Spire Parkway Hospital "from the booking of my first appointment to the ongoing post-operative aftercare, I felt the whole team at Parkway worked hard to ensure I received the best care possible and I am very grateful to them all."
