Consultant Ophthalmologist
MD, FRCOphth, FRCS (Ed)
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Tristan Reuser at Spire include:
I also offer a number of eyelid procedures including:treatment of lumps and bumps around the eye, tumour removal around the eye, droopy eyelids , ptosis, ectropion, entropion, watering eyes, dry eyes and eye lifts.
I trained in the UK, the Netherlands and South Africa and have practiced in all three countries as well as doing charity work in Zambia. I have a long experience of treating general ophthalmology diseases, including small incision cataract surgery.
I have through the years treated thousands of patients with special eye plastic, lacrimal and orbital problems. The eye plastic condition may involve the eyelids, as well as surrounding areas, since any surgery in the eyes neighbourhood may influence the eyelids and their position, and thus the health of the eye. I also treat abnormal position of the eyelids, tumours in the skin of the eyelids and surrounding areas, tumours behind the eye, thyroid eye disease, watering eyes, facial palsy and its associated problems, as well as cosmetic blemishes. As a dedicated eye plastic surgeon, not only can I give advice on the condition that needs treatment, but also its possible effects on the eyes and thus the vision.
I am a founder member of the Association of Ophthalmologists, and am currently on the executive committee of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society. I am also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK).
I previously worked in the Heart of England's NHS foundation trust and the Birmingham Midland Eye Centre. I was Clinical Director in ophthalmology from 2002-2007.
I have published widely on eye plastic topics, varying from tumours around the eye, to thyroid eye disease as well as painless plastic surgery. I have also published on management issues such as; world class commissioning, clinical engagement and surgical bench marking.
